Most maternity sessions work beautifully around 28–34 weeks.
That window is popular because the bump is usually well defined while many mums still feel comfortable enough for posing and outfit changes. Every pregnancy is different, though, so the best week is the one that works for your body, your plans and your photographer’s availability.
Before 28 weeks
A useful option if your bump develops earlier, you are expecting multiples or you want a more active outdoor session.
28–34 weeks
The most common window for a defined bump, comfortable movement and a wide range of studio poses.
34+ weeks
Still possible. We simply make comfort the priority, use gentler positioning and often favour the studio.

The questions most mums ask
before booking.
When is the best time for a maternity photoshoot?
The ideal time is between 28 and 34 weeks. Your bump is beautifully defined while most mums-to-be still feel comfortable enough to enjoy the session. We recommend booking during your second trimester to secure your preferred date.
Can my partner and children be in the photos?
Yes. Partners and children can be part of your maternity session, and we can plan a mix of individual, couple and family portraits.
What if I feel awkward in front of the camera?
You do not need posing experience. Your photographer will guide your posture, hands, angles and movement throughout the session.
Can I change outfits?
Yes. Outfit changes can be included when you build your booking. Plan fewer, stronger looks rather than trying to squeeze in too many.
How do I receive my images?
After your shoot you receive a gallery to choose your favourites. Your selected edited images are then delivered digitally.
